Setting up HanjaKey on iPhone/iPad

  1. Open the [Settings] app
  2. Select [General]
  3. Select [Keyboard]
  4. Select [Keyboards] again
  5. Select [Add New Keyboard...]
  6. Find and select [HanjaKey] from the list
  7. Go back to keyboard settings and tap the arrow (>) next to [HanjaKey]
  8. Turn on [Allow Full Access] (ON)

1️⃣ Converting to Hanja

  1. Enter the character or word you want to convert in Korean (Hangul).
  2. Press the "Hanja" button.
  3. Select the Hanja character or word you want.
  4. The Korean text is replaced with Hanja.

πŸ’‘ Tip: You can convert character by character, or convert entire words like "경제" to "ηΆ“ζΏŸ" at once!

1️⃣-2 Hanja Grid Popup (Browsing Many Candidates)

When there are many Hanja candidates, you can find characters in a wider view.

  1. After entering Korean text, press the "Hanja" button.
  2. Press the β–Ό button on the right side of the candidate list to open the grid popup.
  3. View Hanja characters and meanings at a glance in a 6-column grid.
  4. Press the "部" button on the right to switch to radical view.
  5. Select the desired radical from the radical list on the left.
  6. Hanja characters with that radical are displayed with stroke count, meaning, and other readings.
  7. Select the desired Hanja to input it directly.

πŸ“ Using Radical View:

Many Hanja characters have multiple readings and meanings. In radical view, you can check all readings and meanings of a character, helping you select the correct Hanja.

2️⃣ Registering to Personal Dictionary

  1. Enter a Korean word.
  2. If the word is not in the dictionary, Hanja candidates for the last character will be displayed.
  3. Select the Hanja to convert the last character, then move the cursor forward one space.
  4. Press the "Hanja" button again to select the Hanja candidate.
  5. When done, enter symbol mode and press βž•.
  6. When the Korean input field appears, enter the Korean reading for that Hanja word.
    (Abbreviations are also possible)
  7. Press the "Register" button to save.
  8. You can check it in "My Dictionary List".
  9. You can also add entries from "Add Hanja Dictionary".

Register frequently used technical terms or special Hanja words, and they'll convert in one step next time!

3️⃣ Using Translation (AI-based)

  1. Select Settings βš™οΈ in the top right of the main screen, then choose either "Classical Chinese" or "Modern Chinese" as the default mode.
  2. Enter Hanja or Korean text on the keyboard, then press the "Translate" button.
    The app automatically detects the text before the cursor: Hanja β†’ Korean, Korean β†’ Chinese.
  3. Long press the "Translate" button to translate using the opposite mode.
    (Takes about 10 seconds)
  4. Enter a single Hanja character and press the "Translate" button to use it as a Hanja dictionary.
  5. In Settings, toggle "Replace Original" on to replace the source text with the translation only, or off to show both.

⚠️ About the Translation Feature:

β€’ This uses AI for translation, so results may not be 100% accurate.

πŸ’‘ Tip β€” Spacebar Trackpad: Long-press the spacebar to enter trackpad mode. Drag left/right to move the cursor character by character, or up/down to move line by line. Lift your finger to return to normal keyboard.
